TKT tests knowledge about the teaching of English to speakers of other languages.
In preparing for TKT, candidates have the opportunity to extend their knowledge of English language teaching, specifically:
- Different ways of teaching
- The language of teaching
- How to use resources
- Lesson planning
- Classroom methods for different needs
TKT can be taken at any stage during a teacher’s career. It is suitable for primary, secondary, or adult learners, anywhere in the world. It is also ideal for people who would like to teach English but have not yet started teaching.
To take TKT, you need a level of English at least equivalent to Preliminary English Test.
The exam is in three modules, each with 80 questions to be answered in 80 minutes.
All candidates receive a certificate for each module, graded from 1 (limited) to 4 (extensive) Teaching Knowledge
